About
Dr. David Xu is a medical oncologist and a hematologist who is appointed as a clinical instructor of medicine at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He has a passion for the treatment of solid tumors, and he has a special interest in genitourinary (urologic) cancers including prostate, kidney, bladder/urinary tract, and testicular cancers. He is actively involved in bringing exciting clinical trials to the Orange County community and beyond. He is also affiliated with Hoag Hospitals and Saddleback Medical Center.
After graduating summa cum laude with a BA in biology from Northwestern University, Dr. Xu went on to receive his medical degree from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He then finished his internal medicine residency at University of California, San Diego. He completed his hematology/oncology fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in Philadelphia, where he trained under nationally recognized leaders in medical oncology prior to joining the faculty at UCLA.
He is a member of professional societies including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. He has taken part in and coauthored publications in basic science, translational, and clinical research throughout his medical career. He is a lifelong learner who enjoys participating in continuing medical education activities and regional or national conferences to stay on top of the rapidly advancing field of oncology.
