About

Dr. Daniel Beswick is an Associate Professor-in-Residence in the department of Head and Neck surgery at UCLA.  He is board-certified otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat physician) who is fellowship-trained in the surgical and medical management of diseases of the sinuses, nose, and skull base. He is committed to providing patient-centered, high-quality care. Dr. Beswick's practice focuses on sinus surgery, nasal surgery, and endoscopic skull base surgery including management of chronic rhinosinusitis, deviated septum, CSF leaks, nasal polyps, and sinonasal tumors. Dr. Beswick also serves as the Associate Residency Program Director for the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA.

Dr. Beswick completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University after obtaining his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh and his undergraduate degree from Brown University. He completed a fellowship in Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University. Prior to joining UCLA in 2020, Dr. Beswick was an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado. 

Dr. Beswick is an active researcher and has been awarded multiple extramural grants as principal investigator (PI) including a R01 grant from the NIH/NHLBI and multiple grants from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Academic of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and International Society of Inflammation and Allergy of the Nose. His team’s research has won first prize awards from national societies for both basic science and clinical research. He has co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in addition to multiple book chapters on chronic sinusitis, sinus surgery, cystic fibrosis, sinonasal tumors, and related topics. He is a Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society and the chair of the Membership Committee of this society. He is a frequent presenter and moderator at scientific meetings. He lectures nationally and internationally on topics including management of sinusitis, cystic fibrosis-related sinus disease, and sinonasal tumors.

Dr. Beswick serves on the Task Force for New Materials for the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.  He is an Associate Editor for the journal International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology, which is a top journal by impact factor for the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.

Interests

Dr. Beswick runs an extramurally-funded research program with support from the NIH, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery/American Rhinologic Society, and other sources. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles. Themes of his research include:

  • Investigating patient outcomes following sinus surgery and optimizing patient selection for sinus surgery
  • Evaluating treatments for sinusitis in individuals with cystic fibrosis, including sinus surgery and CFTR modulator therapy
  • Analyzing treatment outcomes for patients with sinonasal cancers
