Brian Donohoe, MD

Dr. Donohoe is a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician within the Departments of Family Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of non-surgical orthopedic issues, caring for athletes and active individuals of all ages and levels. He is considered an expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and has expertise in minimally invasive orthopedic procedures including:

• Ultrasound-guided joint injections (knee, hip, shoulder, wrist, elbow, and ankle)

• Orthobiologic injections including hyaluronic acid and platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

• Ultrasound-guided percutaneous needle tenotomy for the treatment of tendinosis (chronic tendon-related pain)

• Ultrasound-guided needle barbotage for calcific tendinosis (calcium deposits within a tendon)

In addition to his UCLA Health clinical practice, he has served as an assistant team physician for UCLA Athletics, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center. He completed his Sports Medicine fellowship training and Family Medicine residency training at UCLA, where he was also named Chief Resident. He received his medical degree from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and his undergraduate degree from University of California, San Diego, where he was a member of the NCAA Men’s Water Polo team. He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Academy of Family Physicians.
