About EMPWR

The EMPWR (“empower”) Program is an initiative of the UCLA Division of Population Behavioral Health designed to promote well-being and resilience in LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning) children, teenagers, adults and families.

EMPWR provides a safe, supportive environment for LGBTQ+ clients with mental health concerns related to stressful or traumatic experiences.

Individual Therapy

The EMPWR Program offers individual psychotherapies to address symptoms related to trauma and stress. 

Group Therapy

The EMPWR Program offers resilience groups: the Teen Resilience Group and the Parent/Caregiver Resilience Group.

Family Therapy

The EMPWR Program offers support for families to improve parent-youth communication and to foster more supportive home environments.

Integrated Medication Management

Integrated psychiatric evaluation and medication management services are available to UCLA Health patients.
