UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA Health has been awarded the highest designation as a Level I institution in the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Children’s Surgery Verification (CSV) program.
The CSV program is a quality initiative centered on 104 standards for improving pediatric patient care. These standards thoroughly review pediatric anesthesia, neonatal intensive care, emergency medicine, and other critical areas.
The program also addresses gaps between patient needs and available resources in multidisciplinary pediatric surgical care settings.
The ACS standards were developed in collaboration with the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Society of Pediatric Anesthesiologists, and the American Academy of Pediatrics to identify institutions with teams providing the highest quality of care.
UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital is one of only 55 centers in the United States to achieve the designation. It is among just five in California and is the sole recipient in Los Angeles.
