Dr. Robert Reiss, an internal medicine physician at UCLA Health’s Palos Verdes Primary & Specialty Care clinic, has been named the 2025 Honored Hero for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Los Angeles Take Steps event.

The recognition highlights Reiss’ commitment to the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) community. A longtime advocate of the foundation, he will mark a major milestone this year: Team Reiss will surpass $1 million raised in support of IBD research and patient care.

Reiss’ advocacy stems from personal experience — two of his children were diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 11. His sustained fundraising efforts have helped drive advancements in treatments and improve outcomes for patients nationwide.

“No 11-year-old deserves to go through what my children did,” Reiss said. “I will keep fighting for a future where no child has to face this disease.”

Reiss joins a distinguished group of honorees who exemplify leadership and dedication in the fight against IBD.

The 2025 LA Take Steps walk will be held on June 8.
