Heart Failure Doesn't Happen in a Vacuum

“The Heart Failure Symposium is for physicians, allied, personnel, and anyone who finds themselves interacting or involved with advanced heart failure patients,” says Dr. Murray Kwon, a cardio thoracic surgeon and surgical director of the mechanical circulatory support device program. “During the symposium I will be moderating a session on some of these mechanical circulatory support options and participating in a debate with Dr. Ali Nsair about the use of destination VADs (ventricular assisted devices) versus transplantation in elderly patients. Transplantation doesn’t work in a vacuum, so we need to collaborate with the community. I enjoy the symposium because I feel it’s one of the most direct ways to get our team into the community.”
