Meghan Koo, PhD

Dr. Meghan Koo completed her PhD in CAMPEP Medical Physics at Toronto Metropolitan University under the mentorship of Dr. Miranda Kirby. Her PhD research was focused on the development and extraction of quantitative CT imaging biomarkers to further understand the biomechanical pathophysiology of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Her PhD work has led her to earn first place at the Canadian Organization of Medical Physics (COMP) Young Investigators Symposium and financial support from the AAPM/RSNA Doctoral Graduate Fellowship, Canadian Lung Association, and Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health.
As the outgoing co-chair of the COMP Women's Committee - Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (CWC-IDEA), Dr. Koo’s professional interests revolve around advancing DEI in North American medical physics. She is an active member of multiple AAPM committees under the EDIC, with particular interest in assessing the equity, diversity and inclusion climate of AAPM as a member of the Working Group on Equity Diversity and Inclusion Survey Creation and Demographic Data Collection Improvement.
