Basil Chaballout, MD

Dr. Basil Chaballout was born and raised in Los Angeles County. He earned his undergraduate degree in computer science from Duke University, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society for his interdisciplinary work in biomedical sciences and health informatics. After graduating, he stayed in North Carolina and worked as a software engineer at a healthcare startup.
During this time, his mother was diagnosed with stage IV cancer—a life-altering experience for him and his family that inspired him to pursue a more direct career in medicine. He went on to attend the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, where he focused on cancer research and developed a deep passion for radiation oncology. During this time, his mother unfortunately passed away, which cemented his lifelong commitment to the field.
Today, Dr. Chaballout is passionate about delivering compassionate care with a priority aim of easing the burden of cancer for his patients and their families. With his computer science background, he is especially interested in harnessing data science and emerging advancements in AI to improve cancer care delivery, reduce disparities, and advance the field of radiation oncology through research.
