Responsibilities

As one of the staff psychiatrists, Dr. Leora Morinis offers a patient-centered, collaborative approach to recognizing and addressing the psychological impact of a cancer diagnosis and its treatment. In alignment with the Simms/Mann Center’s philosophy, she strives to provide care that honors the whole person and aligns with each individual’s values. Dr. Morinis considers it a privilege to be part of this compassionate, interdisciplinary team.

Training and Professional Experience

Dr. Morinis earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), followed by residency training in Adult Psychiatry at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, where she served as Chief Resident. During residency, she pursued additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and medical education, through which she developed a curriculum on trauma-informed psychiatry.

Dr. Morinis enjoys artparticularly live performanceas well as reading, writing, music, nature, and spending time with her friends and family.
