Emily Goldin, LCSW

Clinical Social Worker

Responsibilities

As a clinician at the Simms Mann Center, I have the privilege of supporting cancer patients and their families. I provide compassionate therapeutic support, helping patients navigate complex emotions and connecting them with vital resources. My goal is to be a steady, reassuring presence in the healthcare system. I aim for every patient and their family members to feel heard, understood, and empowered as they face the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

Training and Professional Experience

I earned my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from The Ohio State University, where I interned with the palliative care team and ICU at The OSU Wexner Medical Center. These early experiences provided me with invaluable insights into the psychosocial impacts of chronic illness and solidified my passion for palliative care. I continued my education with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California, specializing in chronic illness and end-of-life care. During my studies, I interned at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center working directly with oncology patients and their families, providing emotional support and connecting them to critical resources. After earning my MSW, I worked at The Entertainment Community Fund providing therapy and grief counseling, Long COVID support, and facilitating legacy groups for seniors in the entertainment industry. This role allowed me to assist older adults through significant life transitions, helping them reflect on, and process, their life experiences. Before joining the Simms Mann Center, I worked at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with pediatric patients and their families in both outpatient and inpatient settings, addressing the emotional and socio-economic complexities of chronic illness in children.

Personal Interests

I’m an avid reader, yoga enthusiast, and dedicated Bravo fan. I also enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my cat, Penny Lane (yes, named after the Beatles song).
