Training and Professional Experience
Dr. Lao completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating magna cum laude. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his general psychiatry residency at Duke University Hospital, where he focused on psychotherapy with an emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He subsequently completed his subspecialty fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at UCLA.
Personal Interests
Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Lao enjoys staying active through weightlifting, hiking, and spending time outdoors. He also enjoys collecting Pokémon cards and cultivating indoor plants.
