Responsibilities
Andrew Pettit is a third-year doctoral student in psychology at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. He provides clinical support and psychosocial care for patients and families navigating cancer diagnosis and treatment. Andrew collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based psychosocial interventions tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
Training and Professional Experience
Andrew earned a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. He has worked in community mental health settings, including Hillside Wellness Center and the Pepperdine Telehealth Community Counseling Clinic. Andrew has also held a variety of professional roles, such as establishing a harm reduction program in Cambodia to facilitate access to medical care and provide outreach interventions and in-house counseling services to at-risk youth.
Personal Interests
Outside of his clinical work, Andrew is an avid traveler who enjoys connecting with nature. He has trekked in Australia, China, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, and Tibet. He finds peace through playing music (guitar and piano), swimming, and practicing Vipassana meditation.
