Scientific Interests
Dr. Garcia-Jimenez's research focuses on better understanding and addressing disparities in participation by racial and ethnic minority patients with cancer, particularly Latino and primary Spanish-speaking patients, in clinical trials. Her work aims to implement and understand the impact of patient level interventions that can address known barriers such as lack of awareness and understanding of clinical trials, and mistrust of the healthcare system. She is particularly interested in developing patient-centered, culturally and linguistically appropriate education material and working with clinical trial navigators. Clinically, she is interested in breast cancer and cervical cancer.
